The Need For Speed and F1 Racing

George Grubbs lll and Jeff Harrison Grubbs HP

I’m going to let you in on a little secret.  I like going fast. I love to jump into a Q70 4.6, find an open stretch of road and just hit the gas.  Now, to be fair, my need for speed isn’t really a secret. In fact, it’s part of my DNA.  Get a bunch of the Grubbs family together and we’ll start talking about engines, torque, handling and of course, racing.  One of our favorite things to do is to watch F1 Racing and admire the drivers and the amazing vehicles.  When those cars race by you, it almost stops your heart.  For me, it’s a great feeling.

A few weeks ago, Infiniti brought a taste of Formula One to thousands of Texas fans, when Infiniti Red Bull Racing drivers Daniel Ricciardo and Sebastian Vettel drove the 2011 Championship-winning Formula One car and the F1™-inspired 560-horsepower Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge prototype along Congress Avenue.  They featured the “Go Zero to Infiniti” event giving spectators a chance to see Vettel and Ricciardo up close aboard Infiniti Q60 convertibles. “It was good fun to introduce the Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge prototype to the people of Austin, and it’s great to see Infiniti build a product directly as a result of their involvement in Formula One,” said Sebastian Vettel.

Going into this event, I knew that I wanted to take the next step and put Grubbs Infiniti into the action.  I wanted to see “Grubbs Infiniti” emblazoned on a car that was motoring down the track, testing the limits.  So together with our driver Jeff Harrison, we got our own car ready for Race 1 of the Supercup.  Our sponsor JBL/Harmon supported our dream and watching our vehicle on the track during the practice sessions gave me a real surge of pride.  Every time we got on the track, Jeff took a second off his time. Although we didn’t win, Jeff placed well and we know there’s a real future for us as we continue to push the boundaries with Infiniti and the Grubbs family name. In the meantime, don’t be surprised if you see me go flying by in my Q70.  I’ve got a need… a need for speed.  See you at the track.
