Under the Hood: The Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge

Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge Concept

By nature, I’m a competitive person. I played sports most of my life and even in school, I was always pushing myself in the classroom to get better grades than my friends. So I have to give Infiniti a big pat on the back for the Q50 Eau Rouge concept that they revealed at the Detroit Auto Show last month. Because this is the car that Infiniti has said it wants to seriously compete with top-tier automakers like BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi and Lexus.

It’s obvious that Infiniti is making the transition. We’re absolutely loving the glimpses we’ve seen of the Infiniti Q30 Concept premium compact. It’s going to be a perfect balance of coupe, hatchback and crossover. And, the future is looking very fast with the Infiniti EMERG-E concept vehicle. It will bring us a highly advanced, mid-ship, electric motor powered sports car that will probably revolutionize the way we feel about green technology and luxury.

On March 4th, the world will get a chance to see what’s beneath the hood of the Q50 Eau Rouge at the Geneva Motor Show, where we plan to reveal the engine. Infiniti President Johan de Nysschen has said a production version of the Eau Rouge “would have over 500 horsepower and 600 pound-feet of torque,” likely coming from a turbocharged V6 or naturally aspirated V8. Insiders in the automotive world are saying that Infiniti’s new concept cars are showing that the brand really wants to compete with the big dogs.

Just between us, I think we’re already do all the right kind of barking.
